Comment: A key character used in Flora of Turkey and by Yildiz and Çerpici (2013) to distinguish S. splendens from S. italica is that the leaves are broader and has three, not only one central, vein, The K and MPU specimens conform to this, but there are only single veins visible in JE, LE, and G isotypes. Yildiz and Çerpici also stresses petal division of petals to be smaller in S. splendens.
